Butlr revolutionises drink ordering at On The Beach
On the last weekend of July, Butlr partnered with the incredible On The Beach festival which took place in Brighton. The sell out event was a great success with up to 5,000 daily revellers enjoying a weekend of music and partying with headline acts such as Chase & Status and Pendulum leading the way for one of the first major festivals since the pandemic began.
Using QR codes which were printed on posters and displayed on screens around the event, customers ordered using their phones, danced on the beach whilst their drinks were being prepared and received a push notification when their order was ready to collect from the PickUp point. It went down like an absolute storm and the feedback was excellent.
Why PickUp was so successful
PickUp wasn’t just a great success with the festival goers, it had a huge impact for the organisers too as Butlr generated a whopping 20% of the festival's overall drinks revenue, with the average order coming in three times higher than the other two bars who were operating traditionally.
The Butlr Bar was limited to 7 products (Coors, Rekorderlig, Water, Brewdog Punk IPA and WKD) but this was no detriment as the bar still yielded an average £42 spend per head.
Queue times were also dramatically reduced from 21 minutes averaged at the traditional bars to just 2 minutes with PickUp, a big win for festival goers as well as the organisers.
One of the festival organisers, James Mckeown said: ‘Having Butlr PickUp at On The Beach festival was a complete game changer. Guests quickly understood the idea and it streamlined our whole ordering operation. With less staff manning the Butlr Bar it generated 20% of overall sales. The customer feedback was really strong and we will definitely be using them in our festivals going forward.’
Customers were thankful for the option to order their drinks from wherever they wanted, as it gave them more time to enjoy being in the moment and stopped them having to worry about the endless queuing for refreshments. PickUp was the perfect match for a festival as it helps customers achieve what’s most important to them, being in the moment and enjoying the music.
During the pandemic customers have grown accustomed to convenient ordering solutions throughout hospitality venues and see it as a firm fixture going forward, with festivals being no exception!
Butlr representative, Alex Mackenzie said: ‘It was a fantastic weekend and great to see our latest feature PickUp in action, with a 5000 strong crowd! Festival goers quickly picked up the tech that they’ve been used to seeing across hospitality and were excited to use it at On The Beach. We’re really happy with the feedback and the stats evidence why PickUp is the next step for large scale events in the future.’
The festival was a great success both for the event organisers and Butlr and we look forward to many more events in the future where we can help give customers a better, faster and more enjoyable experience.
