The area is famed to be one of the best nights out in the country and it certainly lives up to it’s status. It is the epicentre of the Manchester LGBTQ+ scene and all its venues are renowned for providing a fun and safe space for members of the community and their allies.
The DNA of Gay Village
Manchester’s Gay Village is a part of the city’s DNA and is rich in history, with the first pub for lesbians and gay men opening on Canal Street in the 1950s. From the outside it looked like any other ordinary pub, but the windows were tinted so those passing by could’t identify anyone in the venue. This meant that those inside could be their true selves without fear of being judged.
Clubs started to pop up in the 80s and the first Manchester Gay Pride was held in 1985. By the 1990s, Gay Village’s reputation for being the most welcoming and friendliest LGBTQ+ venues in the country started to build.
Perhaps the most notable events, other than Gay Pride, is the abundance of Drag Shows that take place at multiple venues in the Village. The Drag scene is the biggest in the North and plays host to countless iconic queens from across the country including those from the famous show Ru Paul’s Drag Race. In the network of streets lies a love for drag and the inspiration of self expression that it promotes.
Where is Manchester’s Gay Village?
Centred around vibrant Canal Street, it is located about ten minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly Station, where there are over 40 venues, all within 100 meters of each other. The venues consist of restaurants, clubs and bars; so there's something for everyone. Most venues are open to all visitors but some do have stricter door policies to offer LGBTQ+ members a safe place to express who they are freely.

Eva & Lounge by EVA
We have been partnered with EVA & Lounge by EVA since May this year and the partnership has been a great success. During the period of COVID restrictions, they used our table service app which helped them to keep their doors open to patrons.
Since restrictions have been lifted, they are continuing to use our app but have also adopted PickUp. This feature allows them to operate their bar as normal, for customers who still wish to order traditionally, whilst increasing efficiency and reducing queues by letting guests order and pay from their phones, then PickUp from the bar when their drinks are ready.
We have also designed bespoke table stickers and posters for their venue so that customers can scan a QR code and access their menu and order via app clips.
EVA offers a comfortable Lounge area with a range of cocktails, spirits and shooters. It also doubles up as a club on Friday and Saturday nights for all you nightowls.
New Union partnered with us in April, just in time for the soft lifting of restrictions in England. Like EVA, the app has given them the ability to keep their doors open and is proving to be a great success for them. They’re also a fantastic hotel and show bar with a fun and lively atmosphere, offering amazing DJ sets, karaoke, drag cabaret and theme nights to satisfy everyone’s night out needs.
